Pliva 334

In addition to 250 mg pill of Metronidazole produced by Pliva, Inc., you may find a pill of a greater strength which contains twice as much of the medicine as Pliva 333 pill. Now it is indexed "Pliva 334", which is 500 mg Metronidazole (generic Flagyl). The pill is oblong, white colored, unscored, with PLIVA 334 debossed on one side of it ("PLIVA" over "334"). The medicine is used to treat different kinds of bacterial infections, mostly of urinary tract, but also amebic dysentery and liver abscess.

Different infections require different approach and varied doses of Metronidazole.

In case of vaginal and urinary tract infections, such as trichomoniasis, either four Pliva 334 pills (2000 mg of Metronidazole) are taken as a single dose or divided into two equal doses taken in the same day, or one Pliva 333 pill (250 mg of Metronidazole) is taken three times a day during a week.

In cases of amebic dysentery and amebic liver abscess, 750 mg of Metronidazole (that is one and a half of Pliva 334 pill) is taken three times a day during 5 to 10 days.
